Croeso - Welcome.
An old friend of mine once told me 'the norm is a condition of a man whose mediocrity in life is self evident', so I spend my life asking myself to address that statement. Whether I live up to his high standards are yet to be judged.
I've sorted (thanks to Brenna's help at TypePad ) the archive templates, so my little nostalgic foray into html coding has come to an end for now.
I'm quite insistent when we implement systems they are easy to navigate from a users point of view not just the programmers), my friends at the Telematica Instituut are helping us greatly in this area with Knowledge Mapping our communities on this front. We are about to beta some of their work so it will be interesting to see what our community members do with the new functionalities they are given.
My initial impressions of attending this conference was rather mixed, I must admit. I
went with the feeling that little or none of the presentations would actually tell us how
they measured value, and that proved to be the case. This is a desperately difficult
topic which in a away we have in our work gratefully moved on from. This proved to be
true so that was in a away a +ve. The –ves were all around the expectations of the many
of the other attendees were not met, some were very disappointed little was mentioned
with respect to methodologies on how to and how not to measure knowledge value within
an organisation. That was a pity as there was a lot of negative sentiment at the event
doubly impounded by the fact that the room was deep and narrow, freezing cold, and too
small. Ark-Group conferences are usually much much better ran than this, and it was not
a cheap conference to attend.
But having said that my –ves were around other people and how they felt so I came away
quite happy, having learned a few more things. Actually many more than we can easily
apply in Basell and again with a few more very interesting contacts that will be followed
up upon. I’ll posts a blog entry for all of the speakers and hopefully attach the slide pack
of their presentation (That is if is Ark and or the presenters are good enough to send
them to me)
This shows work in progress as I attempt to copy David Savage's Love Chair IV design
I am making them from laminated London Plane, with a muliplex seat frame , sprung and then upholstered in leather.
