After a short soiree to make Owain an arts and crafts bed from mahogany and ebony I have returned to the love chairs.
Part of the delay was trepidation as I need to round the front laminated curved legs.
I bought the router bit, ages a go but was a little worried, one slip and all that work to laminate the leg would be wasted.
But I had a leg I laminated that did not go well, so that gave me a test piece, and hey presto it went very well. I needed to leave some square sections for the glued and screwed joint. So simply applying stop marks helped, and I used the lead pin in the router table to ease the starting cuts.
I had to carefully hop the router bit guide bearing over the screw hole so not to cause a groove, the bumps will be sanded out later.
Now the design is starting to come out as previously the 45mm x 45 mm square front legs were crude and blocky, now I need to do the same to the back legs which are much larger, but they will not be so round as the front legs, maybe 2 corners on each will e rounded, plus the top rails.
